Promote YOU Not Your Company
How Being Yourself and Being of Service Allows You to Rise Above the Masses and Build Real Relationships
The key to long-term success with your internet network marketing or direct sales business is how you approach building it. And by "your business" I'm really not talking about the company you've selected to promote. I'm referring to you. You are your business and the company you market should be thought of as a part of your overall business.
When you start to look at everything you do from this perspective, you'll operate from the mindset that you're building YOU, Inc and building your internet network marketing business can flip from being a struggle to actually being fun.
So, what's the most imporant aspect of YOU, Inc?
I'd venture to say that it's your relationship with an ever-growing list of people who come to view you as someone they know, like, and trust. It comes down to branding yourself and positioning yourself as a leader.
How do you do that you may be thinking?
Well, you start by changing your strategy and NOT doing what the vast majority do which is market their company replicated sites
Instead, you market YOU. Create a very simple site that tells your story, offer something of value to your target market and you'll magnetically begin attracting quality people to you who you can then introduce to your company if you choose to.
By being of service FIRST you set yourself so far apart from all the rest who are bombarding people with their sales messages, flash sites, and "hey, look we're the greatest, make $10,000 by tomorrow" type of sites that people have become immune to.
You get past the "BS" radar by giving people an "inviting" space to get to know you as a professional and if you look around you'll see there's very little competition in the network marketing/direct sales industry for professionals.
Why Focus on the List?
The contact list that you build and, even more importantly, the relationships that you cultivate are your greatest asset as a business owner. Focusing on this builds REAL equity in your business which again is YOU, Inc not your company.
If something were to happen to your company, yes that would be unfortunate, BUT you could pick up and move on without missing a beat by tapping into the VALUE that you've built up in your business (ie. all those relationships).
Generating Cashflow Outside of your Primary Company
If you found a product or service that you knew could be of value for anyone in your industry, you could offer it to those on your list whether they were member's of your direct team or not.
This helps them in that they now have access to a tool or resource to help them build their business of choice and it helps you because it can give you another income stream that can be used to offset your advertising expenses.
A word of caution...
Never, ever, ever abuse your list by recommending something just to make a buck or you'll lose credibility and you'll render this valuable asset useless. If it's not win/win, don't do it. It's not worth it.
In case you weren't totally clear on this, let me make it plain. I know you think everyone would be nuts not to join you in your business given that you have the best product in the world. But the reality is that not everyone is right for your business. Some will join. Some won't. Some will join right away. Some will join much later.
The point is that with the internet you have a tremendous resource to reach people all over the world. Your aim should be to simply continue to focus on positioning yourself as a leader, build your list, offer valuable information to that list and then allow those who are supposed to join you to join you.
Internet network marketing done this way will support you long-term and at the same time put the fun back into building your business.
